How to use CSV Compare
- Import the earlier export as File A and the later export as File B. Both need a header row.
- Select one or more shared columns as the record key. Optionally ignore volatile fields such as export timestamps.
- Run the comparison. Inspect the summary and first 50 difference records, then download the full report.
Choose a key that means one record
For one row per product, SKU can be enough. If the same SKU appears at multiple locations, use SKU plus warehouse. Keys are exact and case-sensitive: A-10 and a-10 are different. Leading spaces also matter. Empty key cells and duplicate composite keys stop the operation with an error; no record is silently overwritten.
Read the difference report
The report counts changed records, but exports one row per changed field. Three changed fields in one product therefore produce three report rows and one modified record. key_1, key_2 and later key columns follow your selection order. Added and removed records include complete row JSON. Schema changes are meaningful: a missing column differs from an existing empty cell. Row order alone is not a change.
Keep a trustworthy source
Compare exports from equivalent scopes and dates. A removed record may simply be absent from a filtered export. Ignoring a field hides all changes in it, so do not ignore identifiers. To correct accidental duplicate keys first, use the deduplicator and retain a copy of the original. Downloads neutralize possible spreadsheet formulas; the interface reports how many cells were changed.
CSV format and safe export
Use comma-delimited files with a unique, non-empty header row. Quoted commas, escaped quotes, quoted line breaks, CRLF and UTF-8 BOM are supported. Whitespace-only rows are skipped. Choose the correct encoding before import; non-UTF-8 content is not guessed. Parsing and processing run in a browser Worker. Only the first 50 result rows appear in the preview; downloads contain the complete result. Outputs are also limited to 100,000 rows, 100 columns, 1 million cells and 32 MiB; expanded comparisons or merges may hit a conservative size limit earlier. Reduce fields or split files if an output limit is reached.
Exports include a UTF-8 BOM and CRLF line endings. Cells starting with =, +, − (ASCII hyphen), or @ after whitespace/control characters, and cells starting with a tab or line break, receive a leading apostrophe. Headers are protected too. Negative numbers may therefore export as text. This changes potentially dangerous cell content; the result reports the number of protected cells. Keep an untouched original.
